This pretty blue cheese and fig board is perfect for summer and fall gatherings when fresh figs are readily available. Tiny champagne grapes make this board even prettier and more whimsical. And thinly sliced jicama can be folded into floral shapes to mimic the popular salami rose often found on charcuterie boards.
Like all of the boards I post, you can make substitutions for what is readily available or based on preference. If you can’t find champagne grapes, regular grapes will work just fine. I’ve had the best luck at Trader Joe’s in the summer and fall for finding them. In fact, most of the items for this board were purchased from Trader Joe’s (not sponsored). Just an easy place to find great products for making pretty boards!
Blue Cheese and Fig Board
Ingredients
- 4 oz Blue Cheese wedge
- 2 oz Manchego, thinly sliced into triangles
- 2 oz White Cheddar, sliced or broken into chunks
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 3-4 fresh figs, halved
- 2-3 cups champagne grapes
- 3-4 thin jicama slices
- 2 Tbsp pepitas
- 2 Tbsp local honey
- 4 oz fig and olive crackers
- 1 small warm baguette, torn, optional
Directions
- On a medium platter or board, assemble cheeses. Cut the blue cheese wedge into two smaller wedges to spread apart on the board. Try to spread out the different types of cheese so no cheeses are touching.
- Add small dish of honey.
- Pile on grapes and fan out apple slices.
- Fill the remaining large spaces with crackers and bread.
- Top the remaining small spaces with pepitas.
- Gently fold the jicama slices into a floral shape by folding like a paper fan, then tuck between sturdy items on the board to help hold the shape.
- Garnish with sliced figs.
